Retail therapy wonders in Paris during Christmas!

Travel | December 1st 2018

No matter how many times we travel to Paris, there always seems to be more to do and say. I love the winter, primarily because it plays host to my favorite festival – Christmas, and Paris during Christmas time is spectacular.

You can experience the city’s festive spirit through its illuminated monuments, streets adorned with baubles, and the Grand Parade on the Champs-Élysées.

During winter, pop up ice skating rinks also appear in magnificent places in the city. After you skate your heart out, continue the holiday spirit by visiting the many Christmas markets set up at La Défense, St Germain des Prés, or the traditional Alsace Christmas market at the Gare de l’Est, to name a few. Sip on hot mulled wine, munch on roasted chestnuts, and dig into meats or cold cuts. However, if in addition to sampling sausages and cheese, you would like to please your palate with vegan yule logs, vegan cheese and chocolate, put the Vegan Christmas market on your must-visit list.

I am something of a thespian and wouldn’t miss one of the glorious musicals, ballets or concerts that tend to take place in Paris at this time of year. See the famous Broadway show “Chicago the Musical”, attend a Parisian cabaret, or spend a humourous New Year’s eve discovering more about how Parisians behave with “How to Become A Parisian in One Hour”.

No trip to Paris can end without treating yourself to several gastronomical experiences, especially during the festive season. Embark on a lunch cruise as you behold several sights of the city during the day.

Nights can be nippy so warm yourself at a soup degustation in Montmartre. This also happens to be the season for giving; so indulging in shopping is a must.

While the world delves farther into the landscape of online shopping, we remain firmly rooted in the old ways; loyal to the music of the cash register and the decadent fragrance of fresh merchandise
There is something to be said about a successful shopping trip, it gives you a feeling of euphoria only instant gratification can provide.

If you happened to also get a surprisingly brilliant deal on your shopping… you were probably shopping at La Vallée Village Paris, Member of The Bicester Village Shopping Collection.

Visiting our favorite shopping destination La Vallée Village, has become something of a yearly tradition for us. Each time we visited, we had a luxury shopping experience and walked out with absolute steals; some for gifting and some for keeping. With over 110 fashion and lifestyle brands to choose from, there is undoubtedly something for everybody. The last time we visited, SU picked out a gorgeous GUCCI bag for her sister’s birthday while I picked up a luxurious GUCCI shawl for my mum and an elegant Longchamp tote for my mum in law. To celebrate our finds, we popped into the French restaurant Menu Palais for a delectable meal and shared our success stories. We would gladly do this every week!!

Can you imagine having a magical place like this, open 7 days a week and a mere 40 minutes from your city? I envy the Parisians this convenience! How wonderful it would be to have La Vallée Village at our disposal here in Mumbai, especially with the festive season upon us.

La Vallée Village at Christmas time will be a true sight to behold with giant Christmas trees covered in glittering ornaments adorning the cobble streets; a true winter wonderland cocooned in the glow of 1200 lanterns while opera singers serenade the guests. Indeed, now is the perfect time to update your winter wardrobe- because from 1 to 27 January 2019, you can savour savings of up to 70%* (*on the recommended retail price of previous season’s collections). And when the rest of Paris is closed, the Village will be open on 1 January, to celebrate the start of the New Year (and your new wardrobe!) Don’t worry if your battery dies while taking pictures or videos of its baroque-inspired decorations or golden sleighs – they have a charging station for those in need!

One of my favorite services offered at La Vallée Village is the option of choosing a hands-free shopping experience. This allowed me to enjoy my Starbucks Hot Cocoa without having to juggle my purse and shopping bags.

Being an indecisive Piscean, I require opinions, so when SU and I split up to explore different brands, I was thrilled to find out that La Vallée Village had Wi-Fi, allowing me to send SU a barrage of shoe-fies before finding my perfect pair.

We finally reunited at the tax free lounge to claim our tax back before heading back to Paris.

To enjoy a luxury, hands-free shopping experience just like we did, head here to download your exclusive invitation.
